BDPA Southern Minnesota/Twin Cities Regional Competition

On Saturday July 19th 2008, Southern Minnesota hosted the Twin Cities chapter in the area's first annual Regional Competition.  This competition provided an opportunity for the High School Computer Competition (HSCC) teams from both chapters to experience a competition environment in preparation of BDPA's National Competition.  In addition to the HSCC teams from both chapters, another team composed of Southern Minnesota students competed at the Regional Competition.

During the competition, the teams had 2.5 hours to complete a web application from scratch, using only a basic text editor and API documentation.  Upon completion of the programming portion of the competition, each team presented their solution to a panel of judges.  The teams were evaluated based on the functionality of their web applications and the effectiveness of their presentation.

The Southern Minnesota HSCC team finished in first place, followed by the Twin Cities HSCC team in second, and the Southern Minnesota regional team in 3rd.  Each student who participated in Regional Competition was awarded a coffee shop gift card in recognition of their achievements.
